When choosing a cooling fan based on the CPU model, factors such as the CPU's TDP (Thermal Design Power), case size and compatibility, fan type and performance, brand and quality, as well as budget need to be comprehensively considered. The following is a specific analysis:
1. Clarify the CPU model and TDP (Thermal Design Power)
TDP is the theoretical maximum cooling requirement of the CPU when it is operating at full load, which directly affects the selection of cooling fans. For example:
Low TDP CPU (≤65W) : Such as Intel i5-12400F. Usually, single-tower 4 heat pipe air cooling is optional (such as Jiuzhou Fengshen Xuanbing 400).
For TDP cpus (90W-150W) : such as AMD R7-7700, it is recommended to have 5 heat pipes or 6 heat pipes for air cooling in a single tower (such as Limin PA120).
High TDP CPU (≥200W) : Such as Intel i7-13700K, which requires dual-tower 6-heat pipe air cooling or 360 water cooling (such as Limin Bingfeng Huanjing 360).
2. Confirm the size and compatibility of the computer case
Height limit for air-cooled heat sinks: The case will indicate the maximum height of compatible heat sinks (e.g., ≤155mm). Make sure the height of the selected fan does not exceed this limit.
The size of the water-cooled radiator: Select the corresponding water-cooled radiator based on the size of the water-cooled radiator supported by the case (120/240/280/360mm).
3. Select the type and performance of the fan
Air-cooled radiator
Pull-down type: Suitable for ITX cases or low TDP cpus, such as the original AMD "Ghost" cooler.
Tower type: It has stronger heat dissipation performance and is suitable for medium to high TDP cpus, such as the Jiuzhou Fengshen Big Frost Tower V5 (6 heat pipe dual tower).
Water-cooled radiator
240 Water cooling: Suitable for 8-core cpus with K (such as i5-13600K), such as Limin Ice Series 240.
360 Water cooling: Suitable for i7/i9 cpus with K or X (such as i7-13700K), such as Enjie Hyatt X73.
4. Pay attention to the performance parameters of the fan
Air volume (CFM) : The higher the value, the better the heat dissipation effect, but the noise may increase.
Rotational speed (RPM) : The higher the rotational speed, the stronger the heat dissipation performance, but noise needs to be balanced.
Noise (dB) : It is recommended to choose a radiator with a maximum noise of ≤25dB, which is suitable for a quiet environment.
5. Consider brand and quality
Well-known brands such as Limin, Jiuzhou Fengshen, Owl, Enjie, and Cool Supreme, etc., offer more reliable product quality and after-sales service.
Heat dissipation components: Observe the material of the heat sink (aluminum/copper), the material of the base (copper base welded + ground), the number of heat pipes and nickel plating treatment, etc.
6. Budget and Cost Performance
Entry-level: such as Limin AS120 (dual-fan compact air-cooled), suitable for processors priced under 1,500 yuan.
Mid-to-high-end: such as Limin FC140 (6 heat pipes, dual towers), suitable for 8-core processors like i7-12700K.
High-end: Such as the Owl NH-D15 (6 heat pipe dual towers), it has excellent silent performance and is suitable for top-tier processors.
7. Special Requirements and Compatibility
Memory compatibility: Dual-tower air cooling may block the memory slots. It is necessary to choose a heat sink with avoidance design (such as Limin PA120).
RGB lighting effect: If lighting synchronization is required, a heat sink that supports ARGB (such as Yajun B3 PRO) can be selected.
